Paul Marsh has been named Sustainability Champion at the 2012 Green Globe Awards at NSW Parliament House.

The award was presented to the water conscious MD for his work in establishing Watersave Australia – a company focused on reducing potable water use in commercial and government organisations.

Paul Marsh’s campaign for better water management started with the introduction of Uridan waterless urinals in 2003. At the time this was a pioneering concept as the idea of ‘going waterless’ was new in Australia. His enthusiasm for water conservation and belief in this new urinal technology gradually gained momentum and today, Uridan waterless urinals are specified by architects, plumbers, hydraulic consultants and property owners with a focus on sustainability and green building design.

By 2006 Paul’s work with large commercial and government organisations highlighted a requirement for better water management. He set to work on creating a water monitoring system that would provide the reporting a business needed to measure, monitor and manage water. His background in IT and business, combined with his knowledge of the water industry, helped him to design a system that would create a new level of water reporting.

The first SmartMeter System was completed in 2006, and this product won the 2007 Green Plumbers Innovative Product of the Year Award.  Today, Watersave Australia has a suite of SmartMetering Solutions widely used by commercial organisations, water retailers, local councils, schools, airports, sporting arenas, camp grounds and parks, saving millions of litres of water every day.

Winning the Sustainability Champion Award is an amazing accolade not just for me, but for our whole team of dedicated professionals and close business partners. This award recognizes our combined commitment towards improved resource management, celebrates our achievements to date and encourages our ongoing innovation for environmental excellence and sustainable business,” says Paul Marsh.

The NSW Government’s Green Globe Awards are the leading environment awards recognizing environmental excellence, leadership and innovation in NSW and the Sustainability Champion Award is rewarded for an individual demonstrating outstanding commitment, leadership and vision in sustainability.
